Lyme Disease, Beware!
What is Lyme Disease?
Lyme disease, equally called Lyme borreliosis, is the most common infectious disease caused by the Borrelia bacterium which is spread by ticks in the temperate region (United Nations). The most common sign of infection is an expanding area of redness on the skin, known as erythema migrans, that appears at the site of the tick bite about a week after it occurred.
Early signs and symptoms include fever, chills, headache, fatigue, muscle and joint pain, and swollen lymph nodes and common flu. Other Symptoms Include;
Joint pain, rash and stiffness, often intermittent. The joints may be inflamed, warm to the touch, painful, and swollen.
One May Ask; How soon do You Need Antibiotics After a Tick Bite?
If you are bitten by a tick but don't get sick or get a rash it is advised you see your doctor. Early-stage Lyme disease responds very well to treatment. In most cases, taking an antibiotic for 2 to 4 weeks kills the bacteria and clears up the infection. Your doctor will tell you how long to take the antibiotic.
Does Lyme disease stay with you for life?
If treated, Lyme disease does not last for years. However, for some people, the after-effects of the disease can linger for months and sometimes even years. Don’t forget that This bacteria is delivered to humans through tick bites, be conscious of this while in open air and try not to expose yourself to the dangers…
